The Basics
What Is a Rotary Screw Air Compressor?
A rotary screw air compressor uses two meshing helical rotors to compress air. As the rotors turn, the space holding the air becomes smaller, raising its pressure. Common types include oil-lubricated, dry oil-free and water-lubricated oil-free screw compressors. Oil-lubricated designs inject oil into the compression chamber for cooling, sealing and lubrication. Dry oil-free designs compress air without injected liquid, while water-lubricated designs use water instead of oil.
Selection Guide
How to Select a Rotary Screw Air Compressor
01
Size by Airflow and Pressure
List the machines that run together and add up their air demand. For an existing system, measure demand through a full production shift. Compare compressor airflow at the required working pressure, allowing for pressure losses through dryers, filters and piping. Choose by delivered airflow, not motor HP alone.
02
Match the Drive to Your Workload
If air use rises and falls as machines start and stop, a variable speed drive (VSD) adjusts compressor output to follow demand. A steady base load can suit fixed-speed operation. Compare power consumption at the loads you actually run, including quieter shifts, rather than at full output alone.
03
Set the Air Quality Your Process Needs
Check the equipment specification for particle, moisture and oil limits. Use those requirements to choose oil-lubricated or oil-free compression, then size the dryer and filters. Specify moisture as a pressure dew point; an oil-free compressor still needs air treatment to meet the required moisture and particle limits.
04
Check Power Supply and Installation Space
Confirm the available voltage, phase and frequency, then check the installation dimensions and service clearances. Plan a route for cooling air to enter and hot air to leave. Include space for the receiver, dryer and filters, plus access to drains and routine maintenance points.
Beyond the Compressor
Complete Your Compressed Air System
Plan the compressor, storage and air treatment together. Each part must suit your airflow, pressure and process requirements, including losses through the distribution piping.
Air Receivers
Store compressed air to help buffer demand and pressure changes. Size the receiver for your pattern of air use and system layout.
Refrigerated Air Dryers
Remove moisture for general industrial use. Select a dryer for the airflow, pressure and inlet temperature it will handle.
Explore Refrigerated Dryers โDesiccant Air Dryers
Use adsorption drying where the process calls for a lower pressure dew point than refrigerated drying can provide.
Explore Desiccant Dryers โFilters, Drains and Piping
Match filtration to particle and oil limits, drain collected condensate, and size piping to manage pressure losses.
For Factories, Distributors and Projects
Configuration and Supply Support
Whether you are equipping a factory, building a distributor range or purchasing for a project, RUEGO can help review the equipment and supply requirements. Define the configuration, supporting documents and delivery scope together so you know what the quotation includes.

01
Model and System Configuration
Bring your pressure, airflow, electrical supply and air-quality requirements together in one equipment specification. Share space, ventilation and other site constraints so we can review the compressor and supporting equipment for your installation.
02
OEM and Distributor Support
Tell us your target applications, destination and expected quantity. We can discuss branding, nameplates, technical documents and spare parts, with available options confirmed for the selected series and order.

Rotary Screw Air Compressor FAQs
When should I consider a two-stage screw compressor?
A two-stage compressor is worth comparing when you need high airflow for long operating hours. JYS-HA covers 8, 10 or 12.5 bar; JYS-HL serves 5 bar low-pressure systems. Choose by delivered airflow at your required pressure. Any energy-saving benefit depends on the model and load profile.
Which RUEGO screw compressors include an air tank, dryer and filters?
Small models include an air tank. JCG includes a refrigerated dryer, filters and tank as well as the compressor. For RG and JYS, storage and air treatment are selected separately. Check the quotationโs equipment list against your process requirements, especially where additional drying or filtration is needed.
What affects the price of a rotary screw air compressor?
Price depends on the model, pressure, drive, electrical configuration and air-treatment package. Customization, quantity, packaging and destination also affect the quotation. Share your operating requirements and delivery needs so we can quote a defined configuration.
When should I consider an oil-free screw compressor?
Choose oil-free compression when your process specifies it, such as food or pharmaceutical applications with strict air-purity requirements. Contact RUEGO to discuss your needs and find a suitable solution.
Can voltage, frequency and system configuration be matched to my site?
Site-specific options can be reviewed for the selected series and model. Send your voltage, phase, frequency, available space and cooling conditions. Single-phase supply and alternative frequencies are not available across every power size, so the final configuration must be agreed for your order.
What information is needed for sizing and a quotation?
Send the required pressure, airflow, application, running hours and pattern of air use. Add your electrical supply, air-quality requirements, destination and quantity. No airflow figure yet? An equipment list and operating details give us a starting point for identifying the information still needed.
